Weekend Fishing Outlook (6/3-6/5/2016)

OFFSHORE: Kind of a hit or miss week of offshore fishing this week offshore. A few nice dolphin have been being caught way offshore, with 800-1000' of water seeming to be a good starting point. Trolling an assortment of bonita strips, squid, and ballyhoo is a good way to go. Look for rips, weed lines, working birds, and areas of flying fish and the dolphin will most likely not be far behind. The water even out to a 1000' has not looked great this week. If it starts to clean up, look for a good color change to form and the dolphin will most likely seek it out. Blackfin Tuna (mostly 5-10lbs) are biting good in 150-250' of water. Small daisy chains, small squid skirts, and small jethead lures are a good way to go for the blackfin. The kingfish bite along the 120' ledge has been hit or miss, but catch it on the right day and it can be pretty good. Snapper fishing remains fair, with some good reports of yellowtail and mutton snapper coming in. Sardines and squid remain the baits of choice for the snapper fishing.

INSHORE: Snook season has closed for harvest, but catch and release action continues to heat up. The bridges are holding a good number of snook. Especially the ones closer to inlets as the snook push on that way. The smaller non-spawning size snook are stacking up around dock lights in good numbers and are a lot of fun on light tackle. Other inshore action remains a bit spotty. Shouldn't be too long before the mangrove snapper start to show up inshore in a little better numbers.

SURF/PIER: Kind of a tough week over all for surf fishing. A handful of late late season pompano are being caught, as well as some croaker in the first trough. Snook are showing up in a little better numbers along the beach, as are a few tarpon and some big jacks. The funky water along the beach has not helped much, and with any luck it'll begin to clear up soon.
